Trend Spotlight: Sandals…will they take-off?

The Washington Times gives an article about the trend of more men embracing sandals. Associated Press reporter Nick Divito writes that sandals for men, or the “mandal…continues to grow in popularity. Sales of men’s sandals jumped nearly 11 percent from February 2005 to January 2006 and another 13.4 percent from February last year through this January.”

We hate the name “mandal”. It’s almost as asinine as “murse” or “manbag”. They’re sandals and so we will choose to call them…sandals. However, it is interesting to make note of the trend that’s being worn by the likes of Jay-Z to average Joe’s.

‘Field Gear’ menswear comes to Macy’s

Macy’s logoThe Chicago Sun-Times reports that Macy’s stores will began selling ‘Feild Gear’ as a menswear label. Field Gear should register with those on midwestern origin, as it was a house brand of Marshall Fields.

Federated Department stores, parent company of Macy’s, acquired Marshall Fields in 2005 and transitioned the stores to the Macy’s namesake. Federated also acquired use of the brand name Field Gear, since it was a house brand owned by Marshall Fields. Macy’s will transition Feild Gear as “rugged outdoor wear such as sweaters and coats, similar to North Face or Eddie Bauer performance gear”.
