Paris Fashion Week: Yohji Yamamoto Spring Summer 2008 Menswear Runway Review
July 18, 2007
For S/S 08 Yohji Yamamoto presented a strongly, military collection infused with messages of peace and hope.
The designers take on jackets, pants and vest included an obvious combative look with epaulets and cargo pockets which were placed without abandon in a variety of places and ranging in sizes. Non-traditional places, such as the bottom of pants and shirts, seemed to make perfect homes for pockets in Yamamoto’s view.
Sheer, translucent button-up shirts were placed over t-shirts layered under jackets.
Slogans were placed on shirts and jackets along with images of peace such as the dove, giving a striking contrast in the collection.
Pants were baggy up top, with some dropped crotches, and tapered below with double zippers or buttons from knee to ankle.
