NEW YORK FASHION WEEK: UNRULY HEIR COLLECTION FALL WINTER 2008-2009
April 7, 2008

The Unruly Heir Fall 2008 collection was held at the East Village Yatch Club in a static presentation.
The collection was entitled “Sidewalk Swinders and Socialite Scoundrels” and juxtaposed the two in order to show their similarities. This collection stayed close to the roots of Unruly Heir by mixing classic style with present day downtown cool.
Head designer Angelina Ulanskas told us the collection sought to “expose parallels between societies breakdowns”. The collection reminds us not to be fooled by the appearances of affluence. Things that at first seem proper are exposed in the form of whiskey bottles and 3 card monte images detailed on pockets. Traditional fabrics of plaids were used in active-wear. (All clothes are made in New York with fabrics sourced in Italy and Japan.)
The mix and match collection centered around three looks. The cigar room presented casual options, the business suit presented work options and the charity ball presented high society options, all with a unique spin.
Bow ties were right on with the recent resurgence going on in the industry. Ruffed up tuxedos seek nonconformity in the world of traditional evening wear. Tux pants had jersey lining to lend comfort to the otherwise stuffy garment.
This collection of sportswear classics is for the fashion influencer and individual.

This is b-s-. “This collection stayed close to the roots of Unruly Heir by mixing classic style with present day downtown cool.” - isn’t this what every label - from indie to big name - is trying to exude?
It’s not b-s-.
The collection provided modern takes on classic English prep which is what they do.
And no, not every label does this.
But you are correct in thinking that it seems that way, especially with the current revival of classic tailoring.
