Pop star Justin Timberlake is reluctantly becoming the star of his own brands.
The singer-actor-Punk’d victim-designer, who is also the face of Givenchy Parfums, will be stepping up to the plate as the face of his William Rast premium sportswear brand. The ad campaign will be the debut ad for the William Rast line.
The ad campaign is centered around online flim clips posted at WilliamRastMovie.com starting at the beginning of August. The story line is edited to resemble snippets of a longer movie with Timberlake playing the fictional role of William Rast. The campaign will also feature supermodel Erin Wasson as Rast’s fictional girlfriend, Birdie. The clips are dark and sexy depicting, “Rast and Birdie as Southern outlaws of some sort, hiding out in a rickety cabin in the woods, driving recklessly in a vintage muscle car and running from baying hounds—all while unable to keep their hands off each other.”

i’m interested to see what this brand has to offer. the ‘compelling’ short stories approach worked for bmw.. so why not. however, i just hope “william rast” produces more than t-shirts with rosary and dog-tag silhouettes on them.
