HUSH PUPPIES COLLABORATES WITH PHILLIP BLOCH

Hush Puppies has entered the collaboration fray by introducing their Guest Designer Series to coincide with the brand’s 50th anniversary.

Hush Puppies is teaming with stylist Phillip Bloch to do a two shoe collection of dress shoes. The ‘Mensa’ shoe is a classic wingtip in leather and suede or all suede combinations. Meanwhile, the ‘Corvus’ is a buckled dress loafer that combines a stingray embossed leather with suede.

Both styles were featured in the R. Scott French runway collection this past New York Fashion Week.

A PEACE TREATY 2008 COLLECTION

A Peace Treaty is an evolving collection that seeks to produce ethical and artisan quality accessories and apparel. Skilled artisans are employed from places of socio-political strife to bring their products to a global audience. The brand was born from Farah Malik, a Pakistani Muslim and Dana Arbib, a Libyan Jew who met and developed the idea when living in Rome.

Each collection focuses on a specific region and accessory to bring limited edition pieces to market. The 2008 collection from A Peace Treaty compromises of finely woven/hand loomed scarves from the Punjab Province of Southern Asia.

BLASON: JEWELRY COLLABORATION BETWEEN PHARRELL WILLIAMS AND LOUIS VUITTON

Something to be on the lookout for is the new collection of fine jewelry called Blason from Louis Vuitton.

Blason, is a collaboration designed by Pharrell Williams and Camille Miceli (Louis Vuitton creative consultant). It debuted during the recent Paris couture shows and is just the latest collab between the French luxury brand and Pharrell. Previously, he designed and launched the brand’s foray in sunglasses with Nigo (of A Bathing Ape).

Blason comes from the symbol representing a dynasty, and has aristocratic connotations.

The collection will launch this spring at Louis Vuitton flagship stores globally.

Expect the prices to reflect the brand’s luxury heritage as prices range from $2,070 to $621,000.

THE NUBRELLA: A STUDY IN FORM AND FUNCTION

Fashion is a delicate balance between form and function, function and form.

You can have form without function, as is usually the case with women’s wear, since menswear tends to be more practical.

But function without form is just setting up a recipe for disaster. Exhibit A: The Nubrella.

The Nubrella is, as it sounds, a new umbrella. This contraption is touted as, “The Ultimate Weather Protector”. It stops rain, wind, snow, extreme cold and fashion dead in it’s tracks. The nubrella uses shoulder straps to keep it hands free.

We do applaud it for bringing innovation to the staid umbrella, but then we’re also reminded of the innovation Crocs brought to sandals.

ADIDAS LUXURY COLLECTION

Adidas is rolling out a luxury line in the midst of the ongoing economic trepidation.

The collection includes styles ranging from the Rod Laver Vintage to the Campus Vintage and is made is luxe materials.

In particular the ostrich skin model in tobacco color stands out as a must have which will be released in March. The others will be rolled out in following months.

KANYE WEST x REEBOK S. CARTER COLLECTION

Apparently there’s been some illegitimate love children between Kanyeezie and Reebok’s S. Carter(they still make those?) Collection.

The result is four S. Carter CL Lows, each pair featuring a bear logo representing Kanye’s signature icon. Two pairs are in patent leather (looking just like BAPE’s) and two pairs in nubuck.

The Shoe Game has the lowdown reporting the, “collection was made a while back, but was never officially released. Reebok sent SportieLA the collection out of the blue. Don’t expect to see this collection available at your local Reebok accounts.”

Apparently, Fred de GARILHE was contacted by Chanel and they wanted him to remove his work from all sites, so we had to edit this post. The lawyers are involved, so the issue has become serious.
